Postpartum Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection in a Young Woman: A Case Report

Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) is a rare but potentially life-threatening condition, particularly in the postpartum period. It is the potential cause of acute coronary syndrome in the population. We report a 32-year-old woman who presented with chest pain, diaphoresis, and shortness of breath 12 hours after an uncomplicated vaginal delivery. ECG demonstrated anterior ST-segment elevation, and coronary angiography revealed a mid-to-distal LAD dissection extending into the first diagonal branch. She was managed conservatively with medical therapy and remained clinically stable. This case highlights the importance of considering SCAD in postpartum patients with chest pain, as its management differs significantly from typical myocardial infarction.
